Who is Jaya Madhava?
Jaya Madhava popularly known among childhood friends as Jaya Gurpur was born to earstwhile parents Gurpur Madhava Pai and Konchadi Sumitra Shenoy (who on marrying to Gurpur Madhava Pai became Radha Bai). Jaya was 5th child in the family three eldest siblings being brothers and one elder sister. Jaya also had a younger sister.
Jaya was born on 21st of November 1953 at port town of Mangalore. Gurpur Madhava Pai was well establish business magnet in transportation business with multple branches across India. Jaya Gurpur being born rich to an affluent family had the previlege of chauffer driven car to drop to school and pick up which could be afforded by handful of families in Mangalore those days.
Jaya Gurpur had her initial schooling in Canara Girls High School and graduation from St.Agnes convent with B.Sc., degree to her credit. Jaya’s hobby was gardening and craft. Gardening as a hobby was practised by her through out her life and now there is a Jaya Madhava Gardens in Peenya Bangalore which grows fruits and vegetables in commoration of her passion for gardening.
Jaya Gurpur respected education and felt always that education can change the way we live in this world. Jaya Gurpur also strongly believed that outstanding education can automatically improve the standard of living. However, many of her friends and relations felt Money is more important than Knowledge/Education.
Some how Jaya Gurpur’s conviction that good and sound education is more important made her choose Perguth Madhava an Engineering Graduate from Indian Institute of Science as her life partner without any second thought when she met him for the first time on 18th October 1977.
Jaya Madhava is hailing from a family engaged in charitable activities, nurturing and preserving the Hindu Culture, Religion, Vedic and ancient traditions, imparting free education to the economically down-trodden people and extending financial assistance to the needy people, hence being interested in continuing, professing and propagating the same values in order to inculcate them in the minds of the future generation/s. Jaya Madhava was interested from a very young age in Hindu Culture, Ancient Traditions, Shastras, Vedas, Puranas, Puja, Homa, imparting free education and all other Charitable, Religious and Dharmic Activities.
