School Library-Chikkadasarahalli
Type of Projects – School Library
Govt Higher Primary School. Chikkadasarahalli
When we started the project of distribution of note books to the children we noticed that the school does not library nor books imparting knowledge beyond text books. So we felt we should donate a library with both Kannada and English story books, general knowledge books and other reading materials which would be useful to the children imparting knowledge which is essential in villages.
The library consisted of a ready made shelf from IKEA and about 100 books to start with.
On 15th August 2023 when there was donor recipient interaction Jaya Madhava Trust handed over additional books consisting of Kannada story books (Fifty numbers) and English short stories (Forty numbers) as an addition to the library. It was noticed with great pleasure that the children were borrowing books prior to week ends and holidays and return the books on the succeeding working day. The library has been a boon to the children of Chikkadasarahalli as children are able to read general knowledge books and gather information which other wise was not available. Initially our goal was to deliver note books to the school children during the months of June for their day to day usage. When we enquired with the school we found that the school has some story books but no dedicated library shelf as such and most of the books had become very old. Hence we decided to give the library and subsequently enhance the number of books.
